The Economy in Murcia
The behavior of the regional economy from half-filled of the eighty has allowed that the Region grew above the national economy in the period 1986-2001, with a half annual growth of 3,3% for the Region of Murcia and 3,2% for Spain according to data of INE. The evolution of the contribution of the different sectors of our economy, is toward that of a more developed economy, with an important reduction of the contribution of the primary sector, agriculture, cattle raising and he/she fishes that has passed of 9% of the Added Value Regional Bruto in the year 2000, to be located below 6% in the 2006. This reduction has taken place to coast of the gain of weight of the tertiary sector, the services that it reaches in the last year 2006, almost 64,5% of the total of the contribution to the Added Value regional Bruto.
Also, the secondary sector, the regional industry, presents in the last years a productive activity that leads the one that has taken place in the rest of Autonomous Spanish Communities, data that are summed up in the Index of Industrial Production that, without keeping in mind to the construction, it locates to our Region like the one that bigger growth of the industrial production has had in the period 2003-2006, with 6,5 stocking% yearly, anything less than to 4,6 points above the national stocking that got a half increase of 1,9% in the same period.
The internal demand has continued throwing of the regional growth, with tendency to control, while it spreads to improve the balance of the commercial exchanges with the foreigner, with more positive contribution to the growth of the external demand.
The private consumption spreads to control for the gradual ascent of types of interest and the expectations of new increases, although its global contribution to the growth continues being positive.
The investment in team in the Region maintains a rhythm of important advance favored by the strength of the regional demand, the improvement of the expectations regarding the economic evolution of Europe, the recovery of the exports and the first floor cost that it still maintains the use of the capital.
With regard to the external demand the data are very positive, until August of 2006 the commercial exchanges of the Region with the foreigner had registered an increase of the flows of 11,8%; the exports 6,1% grew in nominal terms until July (3,7% in volume) fruit from the expansion to other non European markets; the growth of the imports, of 15,1 annual% in the first seven months of the year 2006, it is explained almost in its entirety by the energy (the half cost of the ton of cared petroleum reached the 364,5 euros, 46,1% more than in 2005) component; in summary, removing to our external scale the energy component the commercial regional balance was positive and it improved before until July of 2006 regarding one year in 31%.
The employment in the Region of Murcia in the last decade
From 1996 up to 2006, the employment has increased to a half rhythm of 7,2 annual%, and about 265.000 new work positions have been created. The affiliation to the Social security has maintained the annual same rhythm practically that the employment and the number of members has increased in more than 258.000 people. The unemployment rate has decreased from 23,6 existent% in 1996 to 7,9% in 2006, historical minimum of the series, being always located below the Spanish stocking.
In the last three years (2003-2006), the employment has increased to a half rhythm of 5,4 annual%, more than the growth of the GDP, about 83.000 new work positions have been created, and the members have even grown still more (85.000), the dear unemployment has decreased yearly in stocking 3,7% and the unemployment rate has passed of 10,7% in 2003 to 7,9% in 2006, historical minimum of the series. More than half of the work positions created among the year 2003 and 2006 (in total 42.500) they have been feminine, in such a way that if the feminine unemployment rate was located in 1999 in 22,3%, in 2006 he/she decreased to less than the half (10,9) and it has passed of being historically above the national stocking to be located for under starting from principles of the year 2005.
